A rich winemaking heritage
Deviation Road owners, Hamish and Kate Laurie have dedicated their lives to the wine industry.
Hamish is a fifth generation South Australian vigneron and has extensive experience in viticulture, production and sales. Kate, originally from Western Australia, was 19 when she realised that becoming a winemaker would provide her with a ticket to her passion of all things French and studied winemaking at the Lycée Viticole d’Avize in Champagne.
Fast forward 25 years and together, they have built a reputation as one of Australia’s top sparkling wine producers.
“Every sip reveals a little of the mystery; a taste of the terroir, a glimpse at the season, a hint of the science and a wink to the heritage that crafts its existence.”

Handcrafted sparkling wines
Our traditional method sparkling wines are made from hand picked fruit sourced primarily from high altitude sites within the Piccadilly Valley. Primary fermentation is in stainless steel tanks in order to preserve fruit purity and freshness.
Tirage is carried out in early spring before the wines are sent to the cellars to mature on lees.
The final stage is disgorging and labelling, which is carried out in small batches throughout the year. All winemaking and production is carried out on-site at our Longwood winery.
The wines are made with respect to the traditional method, but have a stylistic contemporary edge and showcase the terroir of the cool climate in the Adelaide Hills.
Premium still wine range
The signature elegance and flavour of our still wines comes from the high-altitude, cool-climate vineyards we work with in the Adelaide Hills. Specialising in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, our small batch, premium range of still wines provide a snapshot of the season and the site from which the fruit was selected from.
